The  Phoenix Project - A Giant Puppet Project

SpringWorks Festival is thrilled to announce the commencement of our giant puppet building project. After years of delighting locals and tourists with visiting parade puppets, it’s time to create our own.

The Phoenix will capture Stratford’s unique intersection of art and industry, taking inspiration from our railroad history to celebrate Stratford’s creativity and capacity for reinvention. Our community meets change like a phoenix, rising from the ashes to transform into something stronger and more resilient than before.

Inspired by

  • Fabulous Puppet Friends we've hosted at our festivals

  • Stratford's history with Steam Locomotives and the Grand Trunk

  • Honouring this city's incredible resilience

  • Learning from amazing puppet creatures from around the world

We need your help to make this phoenix rise.  Thank you for your support
    - Truly every bit counts!

Follow along as we share more of this adventure and join in our delight as we build our very own giant parade puppet and adjacent puppet programming.

Mechanisms and Equipment

"We wish to honour the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Wendat, and the Neutral Nation who are the traditional custodians of the land upon which we stand and the waters that flow through it. It is our privilege to share this land, which has been the site of imagination since the beginning of human experience.

Hermione Presents ~ SpringWorks is located on land governed by both the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant of 1701 and the Huron Tract Treaty of 1827. We are mindful of broken covenants and the need for us to respectfully listen, to learn from our mutual history and to strive continuously for reconciliation at all levels.

The responsibility to nurture this land and protect the future falls to us all and in so doing, we actively honour the wisdom of those who came before us."
