Rooted in Stratford's vibrant theatre landscape, SpringWorks~PuppetWorks! develops projects that explore transformation, place, and community through puppetry while supporting artists in creating new interdisciplinary works. Inspired by the gifts of our fellow artists, each project grows organically, evolving through collaboration, experimentation, and shared creativity.

This project is the result of an extraordinary collective effort. Artists, builders, engineers, volunteers, donors, and creative experts from Stratford, across Canada, and around the world have come together to bring this giant phoenix to life.

 

Approximately 17 feet from beak to tail, the phoenix stands as a symbol of renewal, imagination, and what a community can accomplish when people contribute their unique talents. Every donation, volunteer hour, and act of generosity (including the generous support of our donors and the SHAW community) has helped shape this evolving work.

SpringWorks is engaged in multiple international networks, including helping establish Stratford as the first English-language member city in the world within the International Association of Puppet-Friendly Cities (AVIAMA). This reflects our commitment to cross-cultural exchange, community-centred creation, and civic-scale puppetry that brings people together through shared artistic experiences.
