Hiraeth is a duet work, created and performed by a solo performer. Hiraeth is Welsh for a homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, or which maybe never was: the nostalgia and the grief for lost places of your past. Hiraeth inverts the adage “theatre as therapy” and rather, proposes “therapy as theatre”, where the audience is cast by the solo performer as the other members of her group therapy session. Uh-oh. The reticent Woman comes with the intent to destroy her Inner Child, whom she discovers, to her chagrin, to be surprisingly charming and precociously uncooperative.
